By now you've heard my music and it's old news. Now here I am, making my own music, when I also have so many thoughts about other people's music that I would like to share. For, if it wasn't for the music of others, how would I ever have been inspired to aspire to become a musician at all?
I can be smart. I can be funny. I can be insightful. I have lots of thoughts about what makes music great, and what it is about someone's music that can fill our hearts and open our minds. When I hear new music (or music that is new-to-me), I have reactions and insights that I think could help other people understand the music better and appreciate it from a different perspective. I could also be helping to spread the word about artists who are otherwise underplayed and underheard, and I do rather enjoy helping people, so I'd like to start.
So here it is: This is my Music Blog, for lack of a better title, where I will be reviewing musicians, bands, and sharing my thoughts and reactions in a constructive way, with you all, who may be musicians yourselves, or music appreciators.Either way, everyone is welcome here.
My first review will feature Steven Tyler's new song "My Own Worst Enemy". I know, I know... tackling a Steven Tyler song as my first ever review is pretty balls-y. I can't help it though. I heard the song a whole lot on SiriusXM this summer, and I wrote down my reactions in the form of a review. It's too late. It's done already. When I wrote it, I wasn't even thinking about starting a review blog. But now that I've done it, and now that I've discovered over the breakfast table with my husband that I have these sorts of head-cannon-reactions to music, I cannot undo it.
So please enjoy this Music Review Blog. Look for the first review on Monday, September 26th. After that I hope to write weekly. I can be smart, funny, and insightful, but not always punctual!
